The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems - Faculty of Arts for Girls - Dammam University, one of the oldest departments of geography in the Kingdom, as it was established and inaugurated since 1399 - 1400A.

The Department participated in the graduation of generations of students who contributed, with their learned geographic knowledge, in community development in several areas. The department contribution and its Development Continued until the name was changed and its curriculum was changed to keep up with geographical knowledge innovations, for its name to be Geography Department  and Geographical Information System, for  students to combine science and modern technology in the study and Achievement of geographical knowledge and with the release of 2020 transformation program of the ambitious vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030 AD in the 1436 AH the department  developed its program to keep up with  the developments of knowledge and skills in the area of ​​specialization, a new pattern of global education was established which is (education for sustainable development and global citizenship) to meet the need of the country with new outputs in harmony with the  developments  characterized with the following:

  • Students Backed with sustainability concepts, through integration into the program of Geography Department  and GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS in the field of teaching, learning, scientific research and community service
  • Qualification Program for Academic Accreditation.
  • Students with high skills of analytical technology, critical thinking, organizing and interpreting data and information.
  • Students have the ability to analyze issues and developments facing communities
  • Students in harmony  and able to apply sustainability  concepts and encourage education-based  on "pillars that meet the challenges by collective efforts, global citizenship, take responsibility, constructive partnership, consolidate good life practices to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
