The President of the University Dr. Abdullah Al Rubaish mentioned that “One can describe the academic year of 1436-1437 H in the University of Dammam as a year where activities and events overflowed, especially in the College of Architecture and Planning. Dr. Al Rubaish added that “One of the important factors in building a student’s personality is to participate in activities and events and we are fully convinced that volunteer work and extracurricular activities have a great impact on refining a student’s personality. Therefore, university life is a golden opportunity for students to engage in activities. As well as that, Dr. Abdullah Al Rubaish praised the students, the administration, and the faculty members of the College of Architecture and Planning for their eagerness to participate in many events, where they represented the University of Dammam and the College of Architecture and Planning.

This speech was during the End of the Activities Ceremony for the College of Architecture and Planning, for the academic year of 1436-1437 H. The ceremony included a celebration of the 37th class of graduates from the College. It was held on May 18, 2016 and attended by Dr. Abdullah Al Rubaish President of the University, Prof. Abdulsalam A. Al-Sulaiman Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, various sponsors from the Eastern Province such as Ibrahim Al Jomaih, Eng. Adeeb Al Fblan, Eng. Hamed Hamri, Eng. Hamd Al Shagawi, and a number of guests and parents.

The ceremony started with a recital of the Holy Qur’an, then a speech by Prof. Abdulsalam Ali Al-Sudairi Dean of the College of Architecture and Planning. In his speech he displayed the College’s achievements in 1436-1437 H, its strategy, and its contribution in the National 2030 Vision. He also declared that the number of graduates who gained a bachelor’s degree amounted up to 125 students, master’s degree graduates amounted up to 7 students and one student gained a doctor’s degree in Urban Planning. Dr. Al-Sudairi mentioned as well that “The College of Architecture and Planning has received in 2016 the International Academic Accreditation which was achieved by the continuous hard work of the College’s faculty members and the constant supervision of the President of the University and the College has received as well as that many prizes through participating in local, regional and international competitions. It earned the first place in different competitions such as; Prince Sultan bin Salman’s Urban Culture Award and the Sustainable Building Award.
