In a national achievement, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University has won two eLearning Innovation Awards for excellence and innovation in education and eLearning.

The National eLearning Center announced that Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, represented by the Deanship of eLearning and Distance Learning, has won two eLearning Innovation Awards, one in the Excellence Track and the other one in the Innovation Track. The university won in the excellence track for applying best practices of eLearning in its various styles as a licensed  institution by the National eLearning Center. This was achieved through the project of developing training programs for professional certifications in eLearning competencies on DO’ platform.

The project is based on the targets and outcomes of the Unified Guide for eLearning Competencies, which aims to equip faculty members and teachers in universities and institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries with the necessary competencies and knowledge in education, learning, design, and quality assurance. This Guide also provides unified instructions to professional development of university faculty membersand teachers in all types of eLearning competencies based on three categories (Teach, Design, Assure) associated with professional certifications. The Guide has been developed by adopting the elearning quality standards of the National eLearning Center, Quality Matters, Online Learning Consortium, and international best practices. Dr. Abdullah Al Rubaish, the university president, emphasized that the development of eLearning competencies and their transformation into products that enhance the efficiency of all education and design professionals, was based on the adoption of the recommendation of the Unified Guideline during the 25th meeting of the Presidents and Directors of Universities and Higher Education Institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries. The university has ensured that its training programs are linked to the DO’platform, which is affiliated with the university and holds an accreditation license from National eLearning Center. The platform is utilized as a specialized educational platform for eLearning, professional development, and knowledge transfer at the local, regional, and global levels, meeting the needs of the labor market in line with the strategic goals of the university's eLearning plan, which aligns with the strategic goals of Saudi Vision 2030. 

Additionally, the university has won in the innovation track for its application of best practices and technological solutions to enhance the effectiveness of innovation in improving the efficiency and quality of eLearning and training. This was accomplished through the implementation of the Electronic Course Development Management System (NASAQ), which is aligned with the quality standards of the National eLearning Center. Dr. Ghazi Al-Otaibi, the Vice President of the university for academic affair, pointed out that NASAQ is the first of its kind in governing the development of eCourses at the level of academic programs, based on a technical modeling that is built on objectives and outcomes of processes, templates, and advanced data analysis in the Deanship of eLearning and Distance Learning. NASAQ system is also aligned with the goals and projects of eLearning strategic plan and optimize the utilization of human resources and competencies in accordance with the foundations of the Human Resources Development Program; expenditure efficiency requirements; the returns on knowledge investment, and the performance and quality indicators of higher education. 

Dr. Muneerah Al Mahasheer, Dean of the Deanship of eLearning and Distance learning, expressed her pride of the joint efforts with the National eLeanring Center. These awards will further enhance the university's local presence in eLearning after it successfully won several regional and international awards, solidifying its leadership in eLearning. These awards include Blackboard Catalyst Award 2021 in the category of Leading Change in the United States, the Anthology Together Middle East 2022 in the category of Excellence in Community Engagement, And Anthology IMPACT AWARD 2023.

The eLearning Innovation Award is one of the initiatives of the National eLearning Center aimed at recognizing national efforts, practices, and innovative technologies that target the development of human capital. It aims to motivate providers and practitioners of eLearning and training to innovate solutions and achieve best practices in the field.
